Recap for Marching Band 2011
MARCHING PANTHERS PERFORM AT STATE SEMI-FINALS Congratulations to everyone connected with the Plant High School Marching Panthers for a spectacular performance at the State Semi-Finals at Tropicana Field on November 19th. A great end to a record breaking season!!
TWO TIME GRAND CHAMPIONS!!! The Marching Panthers were Grand Champions on Saturday 29th October at the Newsome Music Festival. This follows being crowned Grand Champions at the Durant West Coast Invitational on Saturday 8th October. Congratulations to everyone involved in the marching band and show called TITAN! featuring the music of Gustav Mahler.
STRAIGHT SUPERIOR ratings at the FBA (Florida Bandmaster's Association) District MPA
Record Breaking Double Header - Saturday, November 5th, 2011
1) Our FBA (Florida Bandmaster's Association) District MPA (Music Performance Assessment) was an astounding success!!!
This event was held at Strawberry Crest HS and is the equivalent of the "FCAT's" of the band world.
The Plant Band received the highest rating possible, which was, Straight Superior Ratings!!!,...
That means that all 7 judges awarded us the highest level of achievement in every subcaption resulting in a perfect overall score,...this is rarely achieved but has become the STANDARD for the "Golden Panther Regiment"!
2) Our FMBC (Florida Marching Band Championships) Competition was another RECORD SETTIING NIGHT!!!
This event was held at Lakewood Ranch HS (Bradenton, Fl) and was our Final Regional Qualifier for the State Bracket.
The Plant Band earned a score of 86.4 which crushed our previous school record of an 82.2!,...
This weekends "Block Score" to be a TOP SEED in the State Championships Bracket was an 85 and this was the first time in history the Plant Band has ever "Blocked" in the State Championships Bracket as well!!!
Newsome Music Festival - Saturday, October 29th, 2011
GRAND CHAMPIONS!! AGAIN!!!
This is the 2nd Grand Championship Award in the history of the Plant High School Band! Both in October 2011.

Tarpon Springs Outdoor Festival - Saturday, October 15th, 2011
Ensemble Music Performance- 8th Place (there was only a 2.5 point spread from 1st to us,...VERY CLOSE!).
Individual Music Performance- 5th Place (there was only a .7 point spread from 1st to us, VERY CLOSE!)...
General Effect of Music- 6th Place (we were only .1 from 5th, .2 from 4th & .4 from 3rd place, VERY CLOSE!)...
Percussion Performance- 4th Place with a score of 80!!! (3rd was Cypress Creek 83, 2nd was Newsome 85 & 1st was in the 5A Class, Haggerty with a 91)
Total Music Score- 5th Place (there was only a 3.4 point spread from 1st to us!)...
Individual Visual Marching Technique- 5th Place (we were only .1 from 4th & .5 from 3rd place, VERY CLOSE!)...
Durant West Coast Invitational - Saturday, October 8th, 2011
GRAND CHAMPIONS!!
Congratulations as follows,
1) Auxiliary as FIRST PLACE WINNERS in 4A with a DISTINGUISHED SCORE !!!
2) Percussion received a PHENOMENAL score of 88 which was also DISTINGUISHED !!!
3) Woodwinds and Brass Won the Ensemble and Individual Music Captions as well with DISTINGUISHED ratings !!!
This is the 1st Grand Championship Award in the history of the Plant High School Band! |
